Interestingly, Elisha actually did twice as many miracles as Elijah.

Elisha in 2 Kings 4 instructs a poor widow to preform a miracle of multiplying oil to fill many jars and sell to pay her debts and have enough to live one too. A little oil SHE HAD becomes a vast supply for her and her two sons as she obeys Elisha's instructions.

The Shunem women is given a son as promised by Elisha and he then suddenly dies. His mother goes to Elisha asking him to come pray for her son. Elisha prays for him repeatedly and God brings him back to life. Yes, God is the miracle worker in the Old Testament as well as the New.

Today we can pray the prayer of faith personally and see miracles from God as we pray too. Some people are gifted in healing ministry, that is true, but God hears and answers the prayer of each of His people today. YES, YOU CAN pray and see miracles given by God as well as pastors.

BELIEVE GOD TODAY AND FOLLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT'S PROMPTING TO PRAY FOR & RECEIVE MIRACLES!!!

This is such a sad situation for a kingdom that started with David living for God and leading the nation well. Solomon's grandsons followed the evil influence of their father and their lives are up before God for judgment for their sins as we see in 1 Kings 14-15.

The power of a Godly influence is amazing, however, so is the power of an evil influence. The challenge for us today is to live a life of integrity at all times before our family and friends.

Jesus consistently lives the life of an obedient son as we see in Matthew 9. Challenges have been a part of His life from birth but God spares Him repeatedly. However, as a child, young person, and adult He is our perfect example of the way to live in obedience to His Heavenly Father. We see Him, today, ministering to the needy, beginning to call the Apostles, answering questions about fasting, raising the dead girl, healing the blind mute, and talking about the need of workers in His Kingdom.

JESUS IS OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE! MAY WE EACH LEARN TO FOLLOW HIM AS HE FOLLOWED HIS HEAVENLY FATHER'S DIRECTIONS!!!

Jesus later told us to: "Go into the world and preach the Gospel to every creature." LETS GET GOING!!!

He just came down from the mountain where He has been teaching the people in what we call, "The Sermon On The Mount."

A man with leprosy is first to approach Jesus with an interesting approach: "Lord, If you are willing, you can make me clean." He had faith in Jesus but lacked understanding about Jesus' desire to help him. I think that we are often like that too. We often think: "I know you can but, is this the right time or is it your will?" Jesus said, "I am willing, Be clean." Jesus Touched the Untouchable. Immediately he was cured and sent to the Priest to go through the process of being given a "clean bill of health."

Jesus enters Capernaum and is asked by a Roman Centurion to heal his servant who is paralyzed. Jesus said, "I will go," but the Centurion says, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come into my house." But just say the word and my servant will be healed..." Jesus Commended The Faith of this man as greater than He has seen in all Israel. GREAT FAITH IN THE SPOKEN WORD!!! Wow, this man had faith in Jesus Power and Authority: You don't even need to be present to touch, just speak and heal. Jesus is the same today: He can just speak the word THROUGH YOU!!!

Jesus heals Peter's Mother-in-law by touching her hand and did not even speak but she was instantly healed from the fever. She got up and began to wait on them. Powerful healing virtue was flowing through Jesus. He is showing us how we can minister as He did.

Jesus calms the storm on The Sea of Galilee. He simply rebuked the wind and waves saying, "Peace be still." Immediately the sea was calm and the wing stopped. Jesus had authority and power over nature.

When they arrive across the sea at the region of the Gadarenes Jesus casts evil spirits out of two men with one word: "GO!" The evil spirits came out and went into a herd of pigs near by as directed by Jesus. We need to learn to take similar steps today and say, "IN JESUS NAME GO, NOW." Jesus said, "The things I do shall you do and greater!" Does He really mean it? YES, I BELIEVE HE DOES!!! Let's get to work now!!!

WATCH JESUS MINISTER & GO AND DO AS HE DID IN JESUS NAME!!!

Jonah, however, hates Assyria because they have been enemies of Israel for many years, so he decides to run from God and go to Tarshish instead. DISOBEDIENCE IS DISASTROUS! The ship Jonah is on encounters a devastating storm and is about to sink so he admits that he is the cause of the storm because he is running from God's plan for his life. He is thrown overboard and the storm immediately stops. HOW IS THAT FOR A SIGN TO ALL ON BOARD THE SHIP OF THE POWER OF GOD???

God provided a great fish to swallow Jonah and for 3 days and nights he is in this fish praying to God. MIRACLE FISH & MIRACLE 3 DAY RIDE BACK TO LAND!!! Jonah goes to Nineveh and preaches to them and the whole city repents in sack cloth before God. This act of turning from their wicked ways results in God sparing the city. Jonah, however, instead of rejoicing goes into a pouting mode so God deals with him further about God's love and grace.

The Lesson for us today has various things in it. 1st, we need to learn to obey God immediately at all times and overt many "storms of life." 2nd, we need to learn how powerful God is to rescue us and intervene when we repent & pray. 3rd, We need to learn to rejoice when God forgives wicked people and love them as God does. 4th, We need to learn that God's mercy and grace is far reaching and effective even when we do not agree with His plan for us.

Have a Super Day Walking In Obedience and You Will Be Blessed Abundantly!!!

Matthew 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven." Jewish leaders had a practice of blessing people in their culture. We can learn a valuable lesson from them in this practice. The Bible tells us that we are to bless people and not curse them. Parents and grand-parents need to learn and practice blessing their children because it opens the door for the children to believe and begin to develop into those blessings.

Jesus also taught that we are to be the "salt of the earth and the light of the world" as His followers. Salt is for preserving and enhancing flavor in food. Light is needed by everybody to help produce health and light so we can work, etc. May God help each of us to be the light of life and salty for changing people to be what God wants them to be.

Jesus gives clear information about the Law also. He did not come to to abolish the Law but to fulfill the Law. Jesus expects our Righteousness as Christian to far surpass the righteousness of the Pharisees who often only lived up to the "letter of the Law" rather than Doing what God wanted them to do from their heart.

The challenge for us today is to live far above the expectations of the Law as Jesus lived and taught! This is to be a heart thing for true Christians and not just a head thing.

JESUS' SERMON ON THE MOUNT is so powerful and refreshing because He gives us the advice, BUT HE ALSO GIVE US THE ABILITY TO LIVE IT IN GOD'S LOVE AND GRACE!!!

Verse 2 introduces, The New Jerusalem coming down out of heave from God. This city is a cube 1400 miles square with 12 layers of living space for God's redeemed people. It is made of precious materials: gold streets, precious stone foundations, gates each of one pearl, etc. WOW, GOD IS GOING ALL OUT FOR HIS PEOPLE ON THIS ONE!!!

We will dwell with God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit in this new creation for all eternity. The Glory of God give the city it's light so there is no need of the sun or moon for light. AMAZING GOD!!! There will be no more temptation, sin, suffering, sorrow, tears, or death like we experience on earth now.

This truth from God is truly mind boggling and we can not fully understand what God has fully planned for us, BUT it is all going to be GOOD!

This New Heaven, New Earth, and New Jerusalem is only for God's redeemed people who have given their life to Jesus Christ and lived in obedience to God's Holy Word on this present earth where we now live.

Revelation 20 is an interesting chapter about the future of ALL people: 1000 Years with Jesus in total control, Satan being bound for the 1000 years, and the Great White Throne Judgment of the wicked.

Let's think about the 1000 Years of World Peace. This will be an awesome time when Jesus returns to this earth to set up His Kingdom to rule the earth with righteousness. Satan will be bound in the Abyss during this 1000 years and will have not influence on the earth at all. This is hard for us to comprehend because we have always had Satan's evil temptation to cause us to sin. God's people will be ruling and reigning with Jesus during this time of mind boggling peace. It will be this earth much like it should have been before Satan and sin came. AWESOME!!!

At the end of this glorious reign of Jesus, Satan will be let loose for a short period of to go and deceive the nations after the 1000 years of Righteousness. The shocking truth is that he will succeed and millions will turn away for peace and follow him to war against Jesus. Satan and his army will be defeated by fire from heaven and cast into Hell for all of eternity.

The Great White Throne Judgment is for the wicked and rebellious dead to be judged by Jesus at the end of this time. They will be condemned to eternity in Hell because they chose to refuse Jesus saving grace. That is so sad but it is final and of their choosing.

Revelation 21 is our reading for Thursday and IT IS GLORIOUS GOOD NEW FOR ALL OF GOD'S PEOPLE!

ISRAEL MEN NUMBERED

Is is amazing to watch how God does things in the Bible! God told Moses to number the Jewish fighting men 20 yearS old and up. The Tribe of Levi, who were the priests, were not number because they were only allowed to serve as priests. The total was 603,550 men. Remember this did not include the women or children under 20 either. The whole nation was probably at least a couple million people. Why count them now when at other times God told them not to number the people. Remember David got in trouble because he decided to number the fighting men for his army.

Many things God tells us to do may not make sense at the moment but He has a plan to bring Glory to Himself through what we do. The key is to position yourself close to God so He ca n minister to and through you each day. Then leave the unknown things and reasons in God's care because that is where it all belongs. We do not need to have an answer!

Revelation 14 is also a chapter about numbering the people. This time God numbered 144,000 Jews during the Great Tribulation to protect them from the Anti-Christ's destruction. NO MAN OR BEAST OR SATAN CAN CAN DO ANYTHING TO HARM THEM. Now that is Divine Intervention BIG TIME because Satan was desiring to destroy them totally.

God is so good to them and to all who will trust God totally.

God is THE GREAT I AM! He was for them and is for us today also!

Because in the years of old age it is easy to get distracted as Solomon did for many years, making him reason that life is meaningless. We believe that he did come back to God's ways before he died. Ecc.12:13 gives Solomon's conclusion the the whole matter. "Fear God and keep his commandments. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil."

When we appear before God some day, I for one, want to hear "Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord." I want to be with Jesus for all eternity!

The other side of that coin, however, is the words of the eternal judge that says, "Depart from me into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth..." The rebellious and disobedient will have an eternity of suffering and agony. That is sad but it is their choice.

Hell was made for Satan and his fallen angels but the wicked choose to join them by their refusal to accept Jesus' love and saving grace during life on earth.

For Daniel it was a LIFE and DEATH SITUATION! The big question was, could he or would he give up praying to his God for 30 days to save his own neck? Many would say, well he could have prayed secretly and thus appear to abide by the new law of the Medes.

Daniel was lead by God to continue praying 3 times a day with his window open toward Jerusalem, as he had always done. Jealousy was the evil force that caused these evil men to trap Daniel in praying to God rather than to King Darius. DANIEL KNEW THE POWER OF PRAYER AS WELL AS THE RESULTS! His three friends had been delivered from the fire by God and he knew that God had a plan for him too, so he trusted God in the process. He was thrown into the den of hungry lions for the night.

GOOD NEWS!!! The next morning when King Darius came to the den he called out to Daniel, "Has your God been able to rescue you from the lions?" Daniel said, "My God...shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me..." MIRACLES CONTINUE IN THE LIVES OF GOD'S PEOPLE WHO TRUST AND OBEY GOD!!!

DO YOU NEED A MIRACLE TODAY? God is still in the miracle working business today. Believe God and take Him at His word and trust Him for your miracle now.

When we obey God and stand on His word for the promises He has made to us then we can expect to get MIRACULOUS RESULTS FROM GOD.

"Trust and Obey for there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus, than to Trust and Obey." That is a great old song that is true for us today also.

WHO DO YOU WORSHIP?

WORSHIP IS AWESOME!!! The big question is WHAT OR WHO do you worship? King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had a gold image built that was ninety feet tall that he required the people to worship. There were three Jews in chapter 3 that refused to fall down and worship it when the music played They were very brave men. When the King heard that they would not worship his image he became very angry and threw them into a fiery furnace.

They did not Bow, they did not Bend, and they did not Burn! The Kings anger quickly turned into amazement when he saw another man walking around in the fire with them. The forth looked like a son of the gods, he said. The three were brought out and appointed to high positions of leadership. The King then praised their God. Decreeing that nobody should ever speak against their God.

Sometimes it takes great strength to stand up for God but it pays off when we are obedient. May God help each of us to refuse to bow down to any image made by man for worship. God can bring us through the "fire" of persecution if we will only learn to trust Him.

Bow to Jesus Christ and no other! Total surrender to Jesus will bring protection and great rewards also.

Many of them if broken required the death sentence. Others would end with God abandoning them because of their sins. May God help each of to understand that rules and laws are there for the benefit of the good people so God can show them favor and His rich blessings AND to teach us God's plans for living righteous lives.

Yes, God desires to bless and encourage His people. He is not looking for ways to blast or judge them.

Hebrews 13:1-2 "Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." Loving each other is sometimes "a hard pill to swallow" if there are unlovely people in our life. However, with God's love and grace He enables us to do so and truly mean it too.

"Love covers a multitude of sins." It is truly amazing how God can change our heart enabling us to forgive and love people who have been or are difficult to be around. God's love in us displayed to the unlovely and needy is a means of reaching people and bringing Glory to God in the process.

Helping strangers is a "standard operating mode" observed in the Old Testament especially. We observe God's people taking in strangers regularly when they came into their community in the evening especially. We will not need to do this because we have motels now but there may be times that the Holy Spirit urges us to help somebody in need. Be careful and prayerful but learn to be obedient and look for a chance to minister for Jesus in the process.

Like a runner in a Track Meet we need to remove and lay aside anything that will hinder us from winning. Satan is the master deceiver who tries to put things in our life that will distract or weigh us down so we will not win.

Hebrews 12:14 challenges us to "Make every effort to live in peace with all men (& women) and to be holy. We each know how hard that challenge is to fulfill - PEACE. Peace is not always possible because other people are involved and if they refuse to be peaceful it becomes an even greater task.

Our challenge is to do everything we can to be at peace but that does not mean to disobey God's Word or sin to do so. We can, however, learn to agree to disagree. We can have the Peace of God in our heart and mind no matter what others around us decide to do.

Paul writes to young Timothy about the how things should go properly in the New Testament Church. Titus 3:1-2 "Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men."

That goes along with what Solomon said in Proverbs 16 about our Motives.

THE CHALLENGE: Do good to all people and make sure your motives are pure. "A cup of cold water given in Jesus' name will receive God's just reward." The rewards that man gives out are temporal but the rewards that God gives will last for all eternity.

WISDOM IS PARAMOUNT

Proverbs 1/2 tells us about how vital God's Wisdom is for each of us. 1:7 - "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction." True wisdom and knowledge come from the LORD and we each need to learn this truth and read the Bible daily to learn more and more from God.

1 Cor. 14 is chucked full of powerful wisdom from God! 14:1 - "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy." Believers who are filled with the Holy Spirit and God's agape' type love are able to be used by God in "gift ministry" with awesome effectiveness because they are blessed and honored by God. 1 Cor. 13 reveals that without love the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are like so much annoying noise. The implication is that accompanied with God's agape' type love they are more powerful and lastingly effective. "MAKES SENSE!!!

Friend grow in God's agape' love every day and let the ministry gifts of God flow through you for the benefit of people around you and for The Glory of God.

Paul said in 14:15 - "I will pray in the spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind." Singing and praying in the Spirit is an awesome thing but so is anointed singing and praying in our own language. THE VITAL THING IS THAT WE ARE BRINGING GLORY AND HONOR TO GOD!!!

It is so easy for some Christians to gravitate toward evil pleasures and forms of idolatry even today. That is so sad!

The Old Testament examples also contain the devastating judgment of God on the People of Israel when they sinned in rebellion against God's laws, yet they repeated their evil pattern over and over again. WILL MANKIND EVER LEARN that what we sow we will reap??? We often shake our head at Israel in the Bible and yet we suffer similar things and do not relate to the "sowing and reaping law of God."

Paul goes on to say in verse 23 that "Everything is permissible -- but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible -- not everything is constructive." MAY GOD HELP US TO LEARN THE DIFFERENCE and begin living for that which is both "beneficial and constructive" in our Christian life.

Jesus desires that we each live in such a way that "God Will Be Glorified" in everything we do and say. OUCH!!! Those were my toes that I stepped on too!!!

"My lips will not speak wickedness, and my tongue will utter no deceit...I will not deny my integrity." 27:4-5. Why do the righteous suffer? We do not always know the answer to that deep question, nor did Job. God does give us a inside look at what Satan was permitted by God to do to the righteousness man Job. It was a test to prove Satan wrong about Job's reason for serving God and it was not because God was blessing and protecting him.

Job has an awesome relationship with God The Father in spite of all that he is suffering. Oh yes, he questions God ever so deeply but he never loses his faith and confidence in Jehovah God, his Father.

We can learn many powerful lessons from Job's comments before, during, and after weeks of intense suffering.

I believe that if more people were truly working hard (and smart) we would have less problems in the home and family and the church. Kids get bored and often find very unhealthy things to become involved in that leads to many family heartaches. PARENTS WORK HARD AND GET YOUR KIDS INVOLVED IN MEANINGFUL AND PRODUCTIVE JOBS ALSO!!!

"When we are cursed, we bless" is a POWERFUL TRUTH that we each as Christians need to develop in our daily life: home, work, and play. The more we bless people the more productive they will become AND blessings will return as well. "We endure persecution" is often a lost quality as well: if we endure we often complain about it to anybody who will listen: Endure but please do not Complain!

"When we are slandered, we answer kindly." WOW, that is a HUGE CHALLENGE for each Christian!!! Prov. 15:1 "A gentle turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." May the Lord help each of us to grow and develop the ability to "answer kindly" at all times. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? "LOVE COVERS a multitude of sins." The agape' (love) spoken about in the Bible is what we need. Read 1 Cor. 13:1-8 every day for at least a week and ASK JESUS TO BEGIN FILLING YOU HEART AND MIND WITH HIS LOVE AND YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT THE CHANGES agape' LOVE BRINGS!!!

"Oh Lord please help me to grow in these qualities and in Your Love!!!"

WHAT ARE WE BUILDING WITH?

Job is suffering the great loss of his family and possessions as well as great physical suffering. Now he is suffering under the verbal assault of his "so called" friends who are trying to tell him that all this trouble is his fault in some way or another. However, God said of Job, "There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil." Job 1:8. FRIENDS IT CAN NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT WORD FROM GOD about a person!!!

1 Cor.3:11-15 tells us about building our life on Jesus Christ as our sure foundation. We are challenged to build with gold, silver, and precious stones which will stand the test of time and fire. We are not to build with wood, hay, or straw which will not stand the test of time or fire.

What is the lesson for us today? Job's life was build on Godly ways and the tests came and took everything but his wife and his life but, HE STOOD IN FAITH and AFTER IT WAS ALL OVER GOD REWARDED HIM RICHLY. If we will build our life on Jesus Christ and live for Him we will be able to overcome and also be blessed in many ways. The gold, silver, and precious stones building materials of our life be rewarded by God and we will one day hear the words of Jesus, "Well done good and faithful servant...enter into the joy of the Lord."

What are the wood, hay, and stubble things that will burn? I believe they may well be the things we do in life that are not sinful but are not things we will be rewarded for like: relaxing at a ball game, watching good TV, taking a much needed vacation, etc. We are not wrong in doing these things but no rewards will be received either.

GOLD, SILVER, COSTLY STONES, WOOD, HAY, OR STRAW some will stand the test and some will not BUT WE WILL BE SAVED BECAUSE WE ARE GOD'S TEMPLE.

Especially when you see it in action in the Church or Christian circles. James 2 is very direct in telling us "don't show favoritism." Even as a good and Godly Christian it is at times hard to keep from showing some people favoritism. Some people are just so easy to like and be around. Their friends are often heard to say in a good way, "they are my favorite friends!"

Other Christian people are grumpy, picky, puny, and so negative in their speech and attitude that most people shun them because they are so repulsive. It is super hard to not be repulsed by them even if you are a good Christian.

BUT GOD is speaking through James to let us know that we need to work carefully on being open minded and understanding of the "hard to get along people."

May the Lord help us to love (agape') these people and truly care for them. With God's help may we befriend them and get to know them for who they are. BE POSITIVE, LOVING, AND CARING and watch them respond to God's deep love and kindness in you and me. ALSO WATCH THEM CHANGE INTO POSITIVE, KIND, AND CARING PEOPLE TOO.

James 2:8 & 9 tells us, "Love your neighbor as yourself...But if you show favoritism you sin..." WOW GOD, I NEED YOU TO CHANGE ME TO BE LIKE YOU SO I CAN TRULY LOVE PEOPLE TO JESUS!!!

Trials Bring Joy???

James 1:2 is a very puzzling verse that makes you do a "double take." Did I read that verse right? "Consider it pure joy...whenever you face trials of many kinds..." Where is the pure joy in suffering trials even if it is for the Lord?

"Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." v. 3. We each need to grow in learning how to persevere in this Christian life. Perseverance brings maturity to completion so that we lack nothing. BUT DID GOD HAVE TO BE SO HARD ON ME???

God I need wisdom to understand and grow! "If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO HIM." v. 5.

God is here saying that He wants us to have wisdom so just ask, believe, and do not doubt.

Verse 12 "Blessed is the man [women] who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."

God provides Quail in the evening and Manna in the morning for them. That would be like "truck loads" of food each day! Then they are without a water supply and God tells Moses to strike the rock with his rod and there is a "gusher" for the millions of people.

Are "IN-LAWS" always bad? Jethro, Moses father-in-law brings his wife and 2 sons to Moses in the desert area around Sinai. While visiting Jethro observed Moses spending all day setting as the judge for the people's problems. He tells Moses of a better way to take care of this daily need: Appoint leaders to assist every day. Moses liked the idea and God approved it too it appears. WOW, WHAT A LOAD LIFTED FROM MOSES' DAILY DUTIES. He could not spend time leading the whole community as God directs him.

LESSON FOR US TODAY: Take your burdens to the Lord in prayer and do not blame the leaders for your challenges. Watch God provide in His unique ways! Learn from others that God brings into your life with wisdom, but always seek for God's approval AND direction in the process.

God routes Moses back by the Red Sea and again hardens Pharaoh's heart to pursue the people to bring them back as slaves. The Red Sea is in front and the army of Egypt is behind and no where to run! What is God doing? Why did God send them this way? God's plans again look ridiculous but He has a Miracle on His "drawing board."

The fear of the people drives them to forget God's previous miracles so the people begin to attack Moses verbally for bringing them here to die in the wilderness. Moses message to them was: "Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD..." Ex. 14:13 KJV. It is hard to "stand still" when death by Egyptian soldiers looks emanate. God sent the cloud that was guiding them behind them to block the Egyptians through darkness on their side and fire for light on Israel's side to keep them separated. God also sent a powerful wind to separate the Red Sea and dry the ground at Moses command so they could cross over safely. When they were safe God let the Egyptians advance into the Sea bed and at Moses command the watery sea walls collapsed on the horses, chariots, and troupes drowning all of them. WOW, TWO MORE MIRACLES OF GOD.

Moses, Miriam, and the people begin to sing songs of Praise to God for these miracles and their deliverance.

They are truly an example for us today to: 1. Follow God's directions even when they do not look logical. 2. Trust God even when all things look impossible. 3. CELEBRATE GOD'S MIRACLE INTERVENTIONS.

Meals among friends can be very intimate times and they were in Jesus' time as well. It appears that many of the people Jesus had ministered to were present along with the Apostles. Good Food, Great Fellowship, Deep Love and Gratitude were all a part of the evening agenda.

WOW, what a interesting turn in events at this dinner. While the guests were reclining at the table a women came to Jesus with a jar of expensive perfume and poured it on His head. This provoked many of the guests to bitterly criticize her, saying it should have been sold and given to the poor. Jesus, however, defended her saying that she had done this as an anointing for His burial.

This was an act of heart felt tangible love worth a year's wages.

QUESTION FOR US TODAY: How are we expressing our love for Jesus in a heart felt tangible way? There are many ways one can do this, we know! God's love for us is limitless! So, how valuable is my LOVE FOR JESUS??? Am I expressing my love openly?

Hephzibah means "my delight is in her. Beulah means "married." These names signify that God has renewed His covenant with Jerusalem. It is amazing how God forgives and restores the Jewish people after a time of punishment for their evil lives. When they return to God, He will return to them with many blessings and restores His covenant given to Abraham.

God is saying that He wants to "delight" in Jerusalem and be again married to this land of Israel.

Friends, God is trying to say to us, "I delight in you and want to bind Myself to you in a covenant of "marriage." IF WE ARE IN CHRIST AND COVERED BY JESUS' BLOOD WE ARE JUSTIFIED BEFORE GOD!!! God can not see sin if cleansed by the blood of Jesus. We are forgiven of our sins and they are NEVER TO BE REMEMBERED AGAIN BY GOD!!!

The Prophet Zachariah (9:9) prophesied several hundred years earlier that The Messiah would come into Jerusalem riding on the colt of a donkey. This was to let them know that He was the Messiah but the people thought that it meant that He was going to set up His kingdom now as their earthly king. That was wishful thinking on their part because they hated the Roman government that dominated them and treated them harshly at times.

The people are literally worshiping Jesus in Mark 11, hoping He would set up His throne in Jerusalem at this time. They were shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!"

Luke records that the Pharisees were angry and told Jesus to rebuke the people, to which he replied, "If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." FRIENDS WE DO NOT WANT TO HAVE THE STONES CRY OUT! So, we need to git involved now and PRAISE JESUS rather than let the stones need to cry out.

Isaiah 44 gives us a glimpse of God's mercy and grace for His chosen people. "I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessings on your descendants." v.3.

It is AMAZING how God interjects promises of blessings on them while they are still in captivity. He still does the same for us today, at times, when we are in the middle of a tough time of testing or battle. God will say to us, "I love you, you are my child, I have heard you prayers, I will guide you, I am with you, I will provide, etc. etc.

The disciples were eating without going through the tradition of ceremonially washing their hands before eating. Jesus' reply was a quote from Isaiah 29:13. "These people honor me with their lips, but their hear is far from me... Their teachings are just rules of men. You have let go of the commands of God and are holding to the traditions of men."

A good question for us today is, "Are many good Christians demanding that we follow religious traditions more closely than we follow God's commands." Jesus told them that what went into the mouth does not defile a person. It is what comes out of our heart and mouth that is defiling people.

WOW, think about that a bit: my thinking, my attitude, my cutting words, evil deeds, etc. are really where the problem lies. Problem or SIN that is the big question! I believe that many times it is bigger than just a problem. It more often falls into the category of SIN, SIN, SIN!!!

"Be sure your sins will find you out." Keep your heart right with God 24-7. God looks on the heart!
